Master Jhon Cardona Speaks About His School, and His Drive

We are back with another Martial Journal Spotlight. This time we are speaking with Master Jhon Cardona, owner of Cardona’s Academy of Martial Arts in Delray Beach, Florida. Master Cardona’s school was featured in a previous Positivity Post a while back. From that article, it was apparent that Master Cardona is a very passionate martial artist, and uses that in the running of his school. Read on to hear more!

Let us start with a little background on yourself. How did you get started in the martial arts?

Cardona's Academy of MA-Master JhonMy Journey in Martial arts started studying at the age of 12 years old, I always was interested in the martial arts as a child I was always impressed with Bruce Lee movies and later on I was more impressed with Jackie Chan, also when I was growing up, and I started doing martial arts Gojo Ryu with Sensei Alex Odio he was always supporting me and tell me to continue coming to his Dojo. Which practically it was at a park. He never charged me a penny because he knew I wasn’t able to pay him but because it was done at a public park he did not care about the money.

Did you always know you wanted to teach martial arts, or is that something you discovered along the way?

Being a leader is something that I have always wanted to do since the age of 12

What made you decide to open a school?

I decided to open a school because I have the talent an ability so I want to teach an help others with the ways of Martial arts.

What is the philosophy and values of your school?

We want to raise leaders of equal values it doesn’t matter the size or color are their needs

From the previous Positivity Post your school was featured in, I know that working with special needs children is very important to you. Could you tell us more about that?

Cardona's Academy of MA-GroupIt’s important to me to help children with special needs that are being isolated due to their needs. I want them to know that it’s just a label an that they can overcome any obstacle with someone supporting them and them putting effort anything is possible.

Is there anything your school is working on right now?

We are currently supporting local school PTA’s helping kids in distress an the less unfortunate.

What about the future of your school? Any goals you are trying to work towards?

My goal is to be one of the best Martial Arts school in the whole United States an become the guru of Martial arts.

Final Thoughts

It is truly great to hear about martial artists who are highly motivated to teach students. It is even better to hear about those who want to teach all students, regardless of whatever limitations they may have. Everybody can benefit from the martial arts. It is so great to hear about people like Master Cardona who are making that dream a possibility for all!
