Linking You to Positivity in the Martial Arts

This semi-regular post will attempt to highlight positivity in the martial arts from around the world. Unfortunately, it is far too easy to find negative stories on the internet. Positive ones are harder to find. Let’s recognize and celebrate those martial artists and schools who are doing good things in their communities or making great accomplishments.  If you are putting on any kind of event, workshop, or seminar, feel free to post it at http://www.martialartscalendar.com It can bring attention to your event and is free to use!

You can see the last installment here.

Bankens Mountain Martial Arts Academy is working with the community it resides in to gather baby supplies. They will be sent to those affected by Hurricane Harvey in south Texas. Owner Kevin Bankens is no stranger to helping those affected by hurricanes. When Hurricane Katrina hit while he was living in Santa Fe, he gathered supplies to help those affected then, too. Helping Bankens in his efforts is the local chapter of the YMCA and Los Alamos Crossfit.

While this kind of generosity is to be commended, it is also a common part of their leadership program. Children in the program learn the benefits of giving back to others.
