Positivity is What Makes the World Go ‘Round!

This semi-regular post will attempt to highlight positivity in the martial arts from around the world. Unfortunately, it is far too easy to find negative stories on the internet. Positive ones, however, are harder to find. Let’s recognize and celebrate those martial artists and schools who are doing good things in their communities, as well as, making great accomplishments.

Many martial artists debate the validity of the competition side of training. What is not up for debate is if you will come away from competitions with memorable experiences and new friendships. Quite often, participating in competitions can help to introduce you to like-minded people that you would have never met otherwise. Martial Arts schools may very well be at their best when working to help those in need as it strikes to the very heart of bettering oneself. Many martial artists are aware of the health benefits that come with the associated training and physical activity. Better endurance and strength are common benefits in addition to the personal development. When it comes to traditional Chinese martial arts, there have been claims of even more benefits. Improved health, immunities, and resistance to injuries have been claimed. Now there may be some direct evidence of Tai Chi having serious health benefits.
